Spurs duo named in World Cup Squad by Paul Le Guen

Tottenham pair Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Sebastien Bassong have been named in Cameroon’s World Cup squad by coach Paul Le Guen.

23-year-old Bassong enjoyed a successful debut season and scoring a winning goal against Liverpool on the first day of the season after stepping in to cover for the injured duo of Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate, making a total of 38 appearances.

Bassong is confident of Cameroon’s chances during the campaign, the defender said

“I think we can get through the group but we’ll have to be focused, professional and work hard together.

“We have a great squad, great players and I believe in us.

People always remember Cameroon in the World Cup and we’ll try to carry that on.”
