Spurs eye Benfica left-back with Rose heading for the exit

It was reported last night Spurs were in talks with Bundesliga side Schalke over a potential loan move for left-back Danny Rose.

Spurs are eyeing up a late move for Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo who is matched with a £30m price tag, according to the Daily Record.

Today, Spurs are believed to be in a frantic search for a replacement should the Englishman leave for Germany.

The 22-year-old began his footballing career in Spain with both Valencia and Barcelona’s youth sides before making the move to Portugal to join the Eagles.

The Spaniard cost Benfica just £2m in 2016 but after two impressive seasons the youngster’s price tag has skyrocketed and Daniel Levy may be made to pay a premium.

Spurs have not been the only English team to be linked to the youngster, Manchester United and Arsenal have also had interest in the player but to no prevail.
