According to a report by The Sun we have stepped up our interest in signing Celtic defender Kieran Tierney.
The report says Mauricio Pochettino sent a scout to watch the 20-year-old in action for Celtic against Bayern Munich last Wednesday.
Although the German side triumphed 3-0 against the visitors, the left-back supposedly put in a solid display at the Allianz Arena.
The report continues, saying Spurs have been long-term admirers of Tierney, and that the youngster has also attracted interest from a host of Europe’s biggest clubs.
It added that Spurs scouts viewed him at the start of summer against Astana and have been monitoring his progress ever since.
The report says he is being viewed as a potential replacement for Danny Rose, who is slowly returning to fitness after an injury, and uncertainty continues around Rose’s long term future with us after he hinted that he was ready to leave last summer and despite the subsequent apology
Former Wales and Celtic forward John Hartson valued the defender at around £20-25million earlier this year, but he reckons Tierney should stay with the Hoops for at least another season.
The 20-year-old still has four years remaining on his contract at Celtic Park.
The article continues, saying Manchester United sent a scout to watch the youngster in action last month against Paris Saint-Germain as Jose Mourinho’s try’s to solve building defensive issues at Old Trafford.
Earlier this year Tierney snubbed interest from Chelsea to declare his loyalty to Brendan Rodgers’ side
