Spurs face worrying wait over the fitness of star man

Tottenham fell to a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Wembley yesterday courtesy of a first-half strike from Marcus Rashford.

The loss was a bitter pill to swallow for the Tottenham fans as the home side dominated the game and created several great chances.

Spurs, however, could not find a way past an inspired David De Gea, as the Spaniard pulled off some terrific saves. To add to Spurs fans’ misery, a couple of key players sustained injuries during the loss.

While midfielder Moussa Sissoko had to come off towards the end of the first half due to groin issues, striker Harry Kane also took a blow on his left ankle and limped off the pitch after the final whistle.

After the game, Pochettino admitted that he is worried about the extent of damage Kane has sustained and said that a severe injury to the forward would be massively detrimental to the club’s aspirations this season.

The Tottenham squad is already lite on numbers with several key players out due to injuries and if Kane is to be out for a while, it could potentially derail Spurs’ season.

With Son Heung-Min away at the Asia Cup with South Korea, and Llorente rumoured to be close to leaving the club, Tottenham might be left without a recognised striker should Kane’s injury be serious.

The Times report that Kane will undergo a scan over the next few days in order to assess the extent of the damage done to his ankle. However, they must first wait for the swelling to go down.

The injury comes at a really bad time as Tottenham have several crucial games coming in the next few weeks including the second leg of the Carabao Cup semif inal at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs fans will be hoping the England striker hasn’t suffered major damage and will be back in action soon.
