Tottenham’s latest summer recruit, Wilson Odobert, was given a glowing report by his former manager, Vincent Kompany, last season.

Odobert was a surprise signing for Spurs fans
Despite no links to the 19-year-old forward, a rarity in the modern digital age, Tottenham announced the signing of Wilson Odobert from Burnley just before midday on Friday.
A deal for the Burnley star, who found the back of the net in the Clarets’ opening game of the season, is believed to be worth £25 million with an extra £5 million possible in add-ons, according to Football.London.
The surprise nature and price of the deal has left many Spurs fans scrambling for information on the young French forward, whose performances dealt Burnley fans a silver lining in a dismal season that ended in relegation last campaign.

Vincent Kompany is a big fan of Odobert
A man who knows plenty about Ange Postecoglou’s latest addition to Tottenham’s front line is Odobert’s former manager, Vincent Kompany, who could hardly be stopped from praising the teenager throughout last season.
The newly-appointed Bayern Munich manager explained to BeIn Sports: “We talk about the team settling and stuff and as I’ve told you, some of the guys who will be the heroes for us this season, you don’t see them, but I see them in training and we have to be prepared for them to come into the team.
“Guys like Wilson are these type of guys. You can see the talent. It’s a matter of time. Is it tomorrow? Is it in a week or a month’s time? We don’t know. We’ll go with them”.
Kompany persisted in his praise of the forward despite Burnley’s perilous league position towards the end of the season, stating to the Burnley Express: “I will almost refrain from what I really think about him, because at this moment in time, I don’t think people realise how good he is”.
Spurs Web opinion
It may not be the ‘marquee’ winger signing that many Spurs fans were hoping for due to links to Pedro Neto and Eberechi Eze this summer, but Odobert appears to be a great addition who continues the club’s youth-targeted recruitment approach this summer.
Kompany clearly shares the same opinion that many Burnley fans have expressed that Odobert is a player who shone in a poor season for the Clarets last year with the winger possessing all the qualities to not only contribute now, but also to develop into a top winger, hence Kompany’s praise of the teenager.
