Many Spurs fans will love this interaction between Van der Vaart and Crouch on Twitter

Both Peter Crouch and Rafael van der Vaart might have only spent two full seasons each at Tottenham, and just one season playing together but Spurs fans will always remember the iconic partnership that the pair forged.

Crouch’s ability to win balls in the air and knock them down for runners made him the perfect foil for Van der Vaart to play off of. The classy midfielder played just behind Crouch and the pair combined for some brilliant goals in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

Peter Crouch announced his retirement from football yesterday after a long career that saw him play for 6 different clubs in the Premier League. On hearing of the 38-year-old’s retirement, Van der Vaart took to Twitter to wish him the best.

The Dutchman sent a classy message to the former England international, calling him one of his all-time favourite strikers.
