Spurs find out their five possible Champions League R16 opponents 24 hours early

Tottenham Hotspur already put their name in the Champions League round of 16 pot last time out in the competition when they beat Olympiacos at home.

Along with a Bayern Munich win over Red Star Belgrade, this secured the top two positions in the group, with Spurs guaranteed second and Bayern first.

The final list of the round of 16 teams is due tonight once the final games have been played, but Tottenham already know their possible opponents a day early.

After last night’s fixtures, all first-place teams are secured and locked in, and with Spurs guaranteed second, we can now work out exactly who they can be drawn against.

Liverpool finished with a win last night, securing their spot as the first-placed team in Group E. However, Spurs cannot be drawn against another English side.

Barcelona finished top in Group F, becoming a possible opponent for Spurs. Red Bull Leipzig finished top of Group G and can also be drawn against the Lilywhites, as can Valencia in Group H.

Group A has already been decided, as PSG cannot be caught at the top. They can also be drawn against Mourinho’s men.

Spurs cannot be drawn against a team from their own group, so Group B winners Bayern are out of the window. As are Man City, who have already secured the top spot in Group C, but cannot be drawn against a fellow English side.

Finally, Juventus have already guaranteed first place in Group D, meaning they are a possible opponent for Tottenham.

Spurs’ five possible Round of Sixteen opponents in the Champions League:

Barcelona

Juventus

PSG

Valencia

Red Bull Leipzig
