Spurs find out who they will face in the next qualifying round of the Europa League

Tottenham Hotspur are now through to the Europa League third-round qualifiers after defeating Lokomotiv Plovdiv away from home this evening.

However, that statement does not even begin to describe the match in Bulgaria, as Spurs were just 10 minutes away from tumbling out of the competition.

Deep into the second half, Plovdiv managed to win themselves a corner during a rare attack, eventually flicking on a header at the near post and scoring past Hugo Lloris.

With the qualifier set to be just one leg, with extra time and penalties if needed, Spurs faced a tough task to win the tie outright.

However, Plovdiv then managed to get two men sent off while giving away a penalty at the other hand, which Harry Kane expertly dispatched.

Just five minutes later, Lucas Moura rolled the ball across the face of the goal to his fellow substitute Tanguy Ndombele to tap home, making it 2-1.

The North London side will face FC Shkendija from Macedonia in the next round after they too won their second-round qualifier. The tie is set to take place next week (Alasdair Gold).
