Spurs’ fixture pile-up could be helped even further after FA decision

Tottenham Hotspur face the prospect of not having to contend with a replay in the third and fourth rounds of the FA Cup.

The Football Association have made the decision to scrap replays during the respective rounds in a bid to help relieve the fixture congestion which is building as a result of recent postponements.

Extra time and penalties will instead take place to help separate sides who are level after 90 minutes and comes after replays were scrapped throughout the competition last season.

Antonio Conte’s side face Morecame in the third round at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on January 9th.

Tottenham know first-hand of the implications of the impact of the virus having seen their matches against Rennes, Brighton and Leicester City all called off, while also seeing their clash at Burnley halted prior to kick-off due to snow.

The North Londoners learned yesterday that their Europa Conference League campaign has come to an abrupt end after UEFA decided that they forfeited their place in the competition and instead awarded the French side a 3-0 win (Football London).
