Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty five minutes of action against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Tottenham head into the break against Graham Potter’s side with a 1-0 advantage courtesy of Cristian Romero’s opener courtesy of a wicked defelection from a Dejan Kulusevski effort.
Hugo Lloris: Has not been troubled in the first half. 6.
Matt Doherty: AHasn’t often been threatened by Cucurella down the right, has found himself often in space but has not been played in by his team-maes. 6.
Cristian Romero: Scored his first goal for Tottenham via a deflection he knew little about. 6.
Eric Dier: Took a nasty knock on his head which left him with blood streaming out of the wound. 6.
Ben Davies: Has looked to try to get into forward positions on the left to create space for Reguilon. 6.
Sergio Reguilon: Was easily dispossessed by March down the left which led to a shot on goal. When getting forward, has developed a habit of playing the ball back inside rather than crossing with his left. Booked close to half time. 6.
Rodrigo Bentancur: Bizarrely decided to boot the ball from 30 yards out over Hugo Lloris’ crossbar, needs to look to get the ball forward quicker. 6.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Has sat in front of the defence and tried to get the ball moving, needs to offer more when he is pressing. 6.
Dejan Kulusevski: The best of the three forward players, saw his effort deflect off Romero and into the back of the net. Missed a big chance to make it 2-0 when he squandered a one-on-one but was denied by Sanchez. 6.
Heung-min Son: Another quiet half for the South Korean aside from the pass to Kulusevski for the opener. 6.
Harry Kane: Missed an open goal on his left foot after closing down Sanchez and has been caught in possession a number of times. Way below his usual standards which was summed up when he skied a free kick over the bar shortly before the break. 6.
