Spurs half time ratings vs Burnley – flat and uninspiring FA Cup action

Here’s how we rated the Spurs players following the opening forty-five minutes of action in this evening’s FA Cup third-round clash with Burnley.

Ange Postecoglou fielded a strong starting XI for this cup tie, and the Lilywhites enjoyed the majority of possession and had plenty of sights of goal. However, a lively opening ten minutes made way for a flat showing in the rest of the half and the score stands at 0-0 going into the break.

Tottenham half-time ratings vs Burnley

Guglielmo Vicario: Not had much to do in terms of shot-stopping. Did deliver some effective distribution with long passes out from his feet. 6.

Pedro Porro: A quiet and disappointing half for Porro. Ineffective going forward, sub-par set-piece deliveries, and caught out at the back a number of times. 4.

Emerson Royal: A calm and composed first-half display. Some nice passing out from the back but nothing spectacular. 6.

Ben Davies: A very assured performance so far for Davies. Kept it simple in possession and swept up most of the danger heading his way. 6.

Destiny Udogie: Unlucky not to win a penalty early on with typically adventurous play. Showed great strength to win back the ball on multiple occasions. The main Spurs player who looked like making things happen. 7.

Oliver Skipp: Struggled to assert himself on the game. Misplaced a few passes. 5.

Rodrigo Bentancur: Captain for the night. Didn’t see much of the ball, unfortunately. 5.

Giovani Lo Celso: Was active all over the pitch, winning back the ball and launching attacks with dynamic running and smart passing. 6.

Dejan Kulusevski: Most of the play went down the left-hand side for Tottenham, so Kulusevski saw a lot less of the ball than he would have liked. 5.

Richarlison: Missed a couple of decent chances early on, but has been in amongst it and making great movement. Worked hard in the press and dropped deeper and wide at times to support the team. 6.

Brennan Johnson: Showed some sublime control to bring down a couple of big passes early on, and tested the keeper with a cracking effort, too. Could make something happen if he keeps getting the ball out wide. 6.
