Spurs half time ratings vs Man City – A busy half for Emerson Royal

Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty five minutes of action against Manchester City this evening in the Premier League.

Tottenham head into the break having taken the lead through Dejan Kulusevski within the first four minutes but were pegged back just after the half hour by Ilkay Gundogan.

Hugo Lloris: A second mistake in as many games to gift the opposition a goal, should have held onto Sterling’s cross to gift Gundogan an equaliser. 5.

Emerson Royal: Has a good opportunity to play in Kane inside the City six-yard box on thirteen minutes but was wasteful with his delivery. Was easily beaten by Cancelo with an effort with thankfully drifted wide but made up for it with a good challenge to stop Sterling from scoring. 6.

Cristian Romero: Has marshaled the defensive backline well with some important challenges. 7.

Eric Dier: A welcome return to the starting eleven. 6.

Ben Davies: Blocked well to deny City a shot on goal, has kept his distribution simple. 6.

Ryan Sessegnon: Dealt well with Sterling in the opening twenty before the City player switched flanks and has tried to get forward where possible. 6.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: A poor attempt to tackle Gundogan in his own box which thankfully saw the shot clip the outside of the post. 6.

Rodrigo Bentancur: Has been disclipined in front of the back four but should have closed down Sterling for the cross which led to the equaliser. Has given the ball away on a couple of occasions. 6.

Dejan Kulusevski: Has scored his first goal for the club. Defensively needs to sharpen up after Cancelo thankfully shot wide and has been called upon a lot to help in his own half. 6.

Heung-min Son: A smart run to beat Ruben Dias down he left and showed good composure to pass to Kulusevski for the goal. Was inches from latching onto another pass from Kane to have a clear run on goal. 6.

Harry Kane: A brilliant pass to release Heung-min Son in the build-up to the opening goal. Dropping deep and spreading the ball as part of the attempt to counter attack City. 7.
