The north Londoners headed into the fixture without the presence of their inspirational head coach Antonio Conte on the touchline, with the Italian still recuperating from the gallbladder surgery he underwent on Wednesday.

Tottenham head into the break against Pep Guardiola’s side currently 1-0 ahead courtesy of Harry Kane’s record-breaking goal.

Hugo Lloris: Called into action five minutes before half time with a comfortable save from Rodri. 6.

Emerson Royal: Named in the starting eleven despite the recent arrival of Pedro Porro and has done well at both ends of the pitch. 8.

Cristian Romero: Booked after a strong challenge on Haaland. 7.

Eric Dier: Playing a couple of yards ahead of Davies and Romero to keep an eye on Silva.  Had a chance to get a second before half time but saw a couple of efforts blocked. 7.

Ben Davies: Has worked well with Perisic down the left. 7.

Ivan Perisic: Had a tough second half against Mahrez at the Etihad and had done well up against him so far today before making the mistake which led to the City player hitting the crossbar. 6.

Rodrigo Bentancur: Unlucky to be booked for a challenge on Lewis when Grealish and Alvarez had avoided worse earlier on. 7.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Played a key part in Kane’s opener when he pressured Lewis into making a mistake in his own box. 7.

Harry Kane Became Tottenham’s all-time record goalscorer when he broke the deadlock after fifteen minutes.  Has looked to make things happen for those around him, too. 8.

Heung-min Son: Made a lung-bursting run early on and has looked more like his old self. 7.
