Spurs half time ratings vs Middlesbrough – Opportunities for Doherty

Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty five minutes of action against Middlesbrough this evening in the FA Cup fifth round tie.

Tottenham head into the break level at 0-0 with chances few and far between.

Hugo Lloris: Called into action for the first time in the 32nd minute, apart from that has been a passenger. 6.

Matt Doherty: Had a brilliant opportunity to break the deadlock when the Boro keeper left his goal gaping, should have looked for Son rather than fire over the bar. Dragged another attempt side just before the break. 6.

Cristian Romero: Has looked to get involved in the final third of the pitch on occasions. Typically solid in the tackle as usual. 7.

Eric Dier: Has been solid in the middle of defence. 6.

Ben Davies: Needs to be wary of Boro looking to play the long ball. 6.

Ryan Sessegnon: Made a good break down the left and saw his attempt to find Kane in the penalty area cut out, is looking to break the offside trap. Defensively needs to be more mindful of the ball over the top. 7.

Harry Winks: Needs to look to get the ball forward rather than sideways or backwards. 5.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Needs to improve his vision when Spurs are looking to open teams up with his passing. 6.

Dejan Kulusevski: Thought he had a clear shot on goal before being tackled in the box as he was about to pull the trigger Inches away from a clever assist for Kane. 7.

Heung-min Son: His pace has caused Boro some problems, but has not had the service he would like. 6.

Harry Kane: Has played some clever passes to release his team-mates. Was unable to get on the end of Kulusevski’s cross 7.
