Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty five minutes of action against Newcastle United.
Tottenham head into the break against Eddie Howe’s side currently level at 1-1 after Davies’ header cancelled out Schar’s free-kick.
Hugo Lloris: Should have saved Schar’s free-kick, really poor from the Frenchman. 5.
Matt Doherty: Has done ok on the unfamiliar left flank. 6.
Cristian Romero: A superb goal-saving block to deny Willock an almost certain opening goal. 8.
Eric Dier: Has been relatively solid alongside Romero. 6.
Ben Davies: Has looked to provide some support for Doherty down the left, and scored a rare goal with a brilliant header. 7.
Emerson Royal: Back in the side and has done ok up against Saint-Maxim, still needs to do better with the ball going forward. 6.
Rodrigo Bentancur: His usual industrious self has helped out defensively and looking to play balls into the forwards. Booked just before the break. 7.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Was unable to get a good connection with his head on Kulusevski’s cross. 6.
Dejan Kulusevski: Has looked to link midfield with attack, played a dangerous cross into the box which Hojbjerg was unable to convert. 7.
Heung-min Son: With Newcastle sitting so deep, it has limited the impact of the South Korean. Saw his shot just before the half hour comfortably saved. Played a brilliant cross for Davies’ equaliser 7.
Harry Kane: Had his first sight of goal in the fourteenth minute but dragged his shot wide. 7.
