Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness believes that Tottenham Hotspur will be contenders for the Premier League title this season.
The north Londoners capped a remarkable campaign last time out, having turned their season around from being in ninth place in the table when Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked in November to finishing in fourth position under Antonio Conte to secure a return to the Champions League.
Spurs have wasted little time this summer in making moves in the transfer market having already signed Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Clement Lenglet, while the club are also said to be closing in on a deal for Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence (The Athletic).
Souness believes that Spurs have found a resilience that they have not had since the days of Mauricio Pochettino’s time in charge, however, he tipped his former side Liverpool to reclaim the Premier League crown from Manchester City.
He told SkyBet when asked if he expects another two-horse race this season: “No, I don’t think so.
“Manchester City and Liverpool will be the outstanding favourites but I think you’ve got to factor Chelsea into the argument as well.
“I think Spurs have got a determination and a doggedness about them that I’ve not seen since the early days of Mauricio Pochettino.”

When asked to name who will lift the trophy, he added: ‘I think Liverpool will win it after coming so close last year.’
