TyC Sports journalist, Gaston Edul, has reported that Tottenham Hotspur have a ‘specific interest’ in Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emi Martinez.
The journalist went on to explain that Spurs may even make an offer for the Argentine World Cup winner in the ‘coming weeks’ as we enter the final portion of the season.
This comes after Dean Jones reported for GiveMeSport this week that Spurs will have to pay around £60 million in order to lure Martinez away from Villa this summer.
90 Min claim that Martinez is indeed a target for Tottenham this summer as they look to replace long-term keeper and captain, Hugo Lloris.
Aston Villa are thought to be open to the idea of selling their shot-stopper, but he will come with a hefty price tag (Daily Mail).
Tutto Mercato also report that Martinez himself is keen to make a move to play Champions League football next season, so it remains to be seen whether Spurs qualify in the top four.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Martinez would be a good signing for Spurs, to annoy Arsenal if nothing else, but the keeper is one of the older and more expensive options being linked with the Lilywhites.
I would perhaps prefer to see David Raya or Robert Sanchez come in, or Jan Oblak as an ambitious older option.
