Spurs can hold onto Bale and Modric – Jordan

Gareth Bale - Spurs News

Joe Jordan reckons Spurs have proved they can keep hold of players like Gareth Bale.

Spurs are braced for a battle to keep Bale at White Hart Lane after Barcelona expressed an interest in the Wales winger earlier this week.

“The stance with Modric was that we would not be forced into selling him and that was proved,” said Jordan, the club’s assistant coach.

“I believe we can keep Bale. It’s great when the best team in the world is talking about one of our players. I don’t see why it would cause us a problem.

“To mention figures? I wouldn’t start mentioning figures.

“Everyone’s got a valuation, but it’s important that your players are spoken about.

“We’ve shown that we can retain players and bring players in, both of which are important.”

Jordan admits that Modric struggled to remain focused in the aftermath of his courtship by Chelsea.

“It was something that even for Luka, went on for too long,” he said.

“It just seemed to continue and continue and it had a draining effect on the player.

“I’m glad it’s over with at this moment in time and you can see how Luka is performing now. It is a bonus for us all.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. The key to keeping both players is getting in the top four and today Arsenal got a good three points at Norwich we have to win again putting last once again. We have to abandon 4411 or we will come unstuck this was exposed by Fulham's work rate in the second half where they should have bean tired after Spurs had rested the whole squad in midweek. Arsenal looked so good and comfortable and should have won easier then they did 2-1. Harry should look at last week when Van does not score his value to the team is poor. Defoe had played in Russia and he came on and scored also Ady was playing well till we went too the system to accommodate Van and since then he has not scored but made a few Please Harry rest Van and bring him on or our defence could struggle again.

  2. You can't write a sentence for toffee Davspurs, but I completely agree with you regarding VDV. No doubt he can finish, but he is also greedy, lazy and upsets the balance of the team in equal measure. I would prefer Modric in the VDV role and then play two holding midfielders in Sandro and Parker. Either that or the same formation I play if I am playing FIFA 12. 4-2-4. It a 4-4-2 formation but with Lennon and Bale more advanced. Defoe/VDV/Ade upfront.

Parker plays deep midfield anchor with Modric Centre Left midfield. Almost 4 – 1 – 1 – 2 – 2. I think VDV needs to play a proper centre forward/striker or he can piss off. He can't just play whereever he feels otherwise we have to drop Modric. We can't do that as he is our best player.
