Spurs hold internal discussions about signing Brazilian this summer – Journalist

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have discussed a potential summer move for Atalanta’s Ederson, with the North London club alleged to be keen on adding a number six to their squad.

Over the last few days, several sources have talked up the possibility of Spurs making a move for Ederson, who has been one of the standout midfielders in the Serie A this season.

Last week, GiveMeSport claimed that Tottenham had identified the Atalanta star as an alternative to Conor Gallagher, asserting that the North London club are ‘totally convinced’ that the 24-year-old can succeed in the Premier League.

A couple of days ago, Marca claimed that Atletico Madrid are keen on the Brazilian and named Tottenham as the La Liga club’s main competitor for the player’s signature.

On Monday, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold also credited the Lilywhites with an interest in the Ederson, stating that Ange Postecoglou’s men are one of several Premier League sides eyeing the player.

Tottenham are looking at Atalanta’s Ederson

Bridge has now become the latest journalist to state that the Atalanta star is on Tottenham’s radar, with the journalist claiming that the club are keen on adding another top-class number six to their squad.

He told GiveMeSport: “Ederson’s a name who’s been in discussion at Tottenham. I think it’s an area where Spurs will consider adding a genuine No. 6. You see some of their midfielders pushing forward a lot more.

“They’ve got Bissouma, who is quite inconsistent at times. He’s a very, very, very good player on his day, but then maybe he has the odd injury and the odd sending-off, and it takes him quite a while to adapt. Of course, you’ve got Bentancur’s injury situation.

“He’s back but hasn’t hit the heights we know he can do yet. So, that area is something they will look at again in the summer.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Given the success that Spurs have had with recruits from Serie A over recent years, it is not surprising that the club are once again looking towards the Italian market to strengthen key areas this summer.

The likes of Ederson, Teun Koopmeiners, Albert Gudmundsson and Riccardo Calafiori appear to rank quite highly on the North London club’s wishlist.
