Spurs to hold talks with Llorente tomorrow?

Tottenham are expected to hold talks with transfer target Fernando Llorente when the giant striker visits White Hart Lane with Athletic Bilbao for Saturday’s pre-season friendly.

That is being reported in today’s Metro, but is it just a case of adding 2+2 together?

The 26-year-old is seen as Tottenham’s main striking priority after losing out on Mirko Vucinic who joined Juventus last week.

Llorente is valued at £17.5million by his club, but the Metro claim that this figure could be more like £25million should he impress during the friendly.

If the 6ft 5in forward signs, it could signal the end for Peter Crouch at Spurs.

  1. I reckon it’s 2+2 together, Bilbao have improved financially so are probably not that desperate to sell their main threat/ asset just yet, also why would have wasted time going for Vucinic when Llorente would have been the better option in the first place, maybe we knew they weren’t interested in selling. On the plus side he is 26 (27 in the next window) so he may be willing to try a new challenge & league, not an impossible signing but I’m not as optimistic as the papers are regarding talks.

  3. Pure speculation. As is the ‘loosing out on Vucinic’ comment. Price could go up if he impresses in friendly… What a load of tosh. Price increase of millions due to one friendly performance LOL. Could be end for Crouch… Cos they are both tall? can see the thinking, but hardly insightful journalism. Most depressing thing is that other sites/publications are actually quoting these ramblings from the Metro. I suppose it means they get the headlines without even having to make it up. Woeful.

  4. there's a reason why we are playing bilbao on the eve of the tranfer window and i think liorente is a possibility, hope something good comes our way regarding that one, and why do i have this terrible feeling that pikey from wet scum is lane bound.

  5. This friendly has been scheduled for a while, but I think it will be good to see Llorente play. We desperately need a good striker, and we also need someone who’s good with the head, in order to take advantage of our wingers. Let’s watch the game and see.
