Spurs identify summer striker target by taking him on trial

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been dying for a quality back up striker to Harry Kane for years now, with recent purchases not living up to expectation.

Vincent Janssen was brought in to fill that position a few years ago, but failed to ever take his opportunities in the Premier League, and has since been frozen out of Pochettino’s plans.

Fernando Llorente had also been a flop until recently this season, with the Spaniard actually stepping up rather well in Kane’s absence through January and February.

The former World Cup winner was a huge part of the Spurs side that managed to avoid dropping any Premier League points while Kane was out injured.

However, with Llorente getting on a bit, Spurs will surely look to the transfer market in the near future.

But, it looks as if Spurs will be looking to bolster their youth set up first, as they have taken Notts County 17-year-old striker Kion Etete on a trial basis (Tottenham site).

Etete scored two for Tottenham’s under 18s against West Ham on Saturday. One for the future?
