Spurs in for Spanish international?

SPANISH striker Fernando Llorente has become the latest player to be linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The News of the World report that Harry Redknapp has targeted the £12million 6ft 4in forward as a replacement for Roman Pavyluchenko, who is expected to leave White Hart Lane this summer.

Llorente, 24, is currently playing his football for Athletic Bilbao, where his form last season earned him a call-up to the Spanish squad for the Confederations Cup squad late last month, and he is said to be keen on a switch to the Premiership.

Tottenham have already missed out on Roque Santa Cruz who has joined Manchester City, with Redknapp keen to bring in a powerful targetman to compliment Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane.

Meanwhile, Darren Bent is expected to complete a move to Sunderland this week.

Would Fernando Llorente be a good signing for Tottenham, or are there better target-men available?  Have your say below, you can register here.

  1. If we can bring in this lad then happy days! However, I really, really cannot see him leaving Bilbao as it was being reported literally the other week that he was about to extend his current contract by 4 years & why would Bilbao sell him after having just bought Diaz de Cerio, who they apparently see as the ideal man to partner Llorente? That would make no sense whatsoever! Still, Llorente is definitely up there with the more exciting rumours I’ve heard this summer & definitely something to get excited over, regardless of the likelihood of his actual arrival.
