REPORTS suggest that Tottenham may have made a late offer for Paraguayan defender Paulo da Silva.

The 29-year-old had been set to join Sunderland, but he is now waiting to hear about the offer from the other Premiership team.

Da Silva is available on a free transfer after his contact at Toluca expired.

“I have been offered a three-year contract with a team you already know about – Sunderland – but I’m now waiting on an offer from another English team,” said Da Silva.

“I’m sure in the next few days I will know who I’m going to sign for.

“I have to stop off in Paraguay to solve some visa problems, then I will meet with people in England to see what is the best thing for me.”

  1. We desperately still need a left winger, although Modric did a good job there last season- a left winger he is not. It would seem that Stewart Downing would be the best option at left mid, but we all know what Harry’s like – he may well bring in a young kid who no-one has ever heard of and he could be the one. If Hutton and Bale stay fit theres no reason why, with the undoubted balance they’ll bring at full back we can’t go on and break more defensive records and also push for the top 6. Also, i say we keep David Bentley. I know he didn’t have a good season last season but we all know he’s a top player and the chances of him failing again next season are pretty slim i’d say. Keeping him could be just like a new signing. Please tell me what you think fellow Spurs fans, COYS!!!
