Spurs ‘insider’ expects club to sign off on ‘seven or eight’ transfers in January

Tottenham ‘insider’ John Wenham, who regularly reports on the club’s youth teams’ has said that he expects the Lilywhites to sanction a whole host of loan moves in January.

Spurs currently have six players out on loan across England and Europe at the moment, after J’Neil Bennet’s spell at Crewe Alexandra got cut short by injury.

Midfielder Pape Matar Sarr was loaned back to Metz in the summer after being signed from the Ligue 1 club.

Strikers Troy Parrott and Kion Etete are at MK Dons and Northampton Town respectively, while midfielder Jamie Bowden is at Oldham Athletic.

Defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is impressing on his loan spell at Celtic while goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman is with Sweedish club Degerfors IF.

Over the last few weeks, several of Tottenham’s Under-23 stars including Dilan Markanday and Jack Clarke have been linked with loan moves to the Championship in January.

Wenham believes that up to seven or eight players, including Markanday, Harvey White and Malachi Fagan-Walcott will be loaned out by the club when the transfer window opens.

He told Football Insider: “There are a fair few players who should go out in January.

“I’ve spoken about Markanday and White before but another one who could go is Malachi Fagan-Walcott.

“He had a loan spell with Dundee last year but that was cut short after he picked up an injury.

“Hopefully that’s one we can look at again. I’m expecting these loans to be signed off by 1 January.

“There are maybe seven or eight players who could all go out from the Under-23s.

“That then gives the Under-18s a chance to step up into the 23s.

“In turn, that will give the Under-16s the chance to play with the Under-18s ahead of their scholarships starting next year.”

Spurs Web Opinion

After impressing in League One for Portsmouth in the second half of last season, some Championship clubs might look to snap up Harvey White in January. I believe the midfielder has a high ceiling and I am very excited to see how he does in the second tier.
