Tottenham Hotspur have a couple of big injury concerns for this weekend’s game against Newcastle United, but there is good news with one very important player expected to be passed fit.

Forward options a worry for Postecoglou
The priority for Tottenham this summer was to sign a new striker. They did that, with Dominic Solanke coming in from Bournemouth in a £65m deal (Sky Sports).
However, after just one game, the forward has been out injured, missing the win over Everton last weekend.
Now, Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe has revealed the 26-year-old is unlikely to feature against Newcastle this weekend, and he could be joined on the injury list by Richarlison. But, there is one positive to take from his update, as Micky van de Ven should be fit for the game.
O’Keefe tweeted: “Solanke remains doubtful for the weekend and Richarlison felt something and was struggling so also being assessed. Van de Ven is currently expected to be available for selection.”
Van de Ven suffered a hyperextension in that game against Everton, but played on and ended up registering an incredible assist later on in the match.

What are the options?
In all likelihood, this will leave Postecoglou with just one option: Heung-min Son will play through the middle again rather than on the wing.
If Solanke and Richarlison are out, and with Will Lankshear struggling with a hamstring issue, it remains to be seen who Postecoglou will be able to name on his bench as an attacking option.

This is really frustrating. We cannot afford another injury-plagued season like last year if we want to push on and achieve something this season. Hopefully, Solanke is back for the next game, and I would hope that Richarlison’s issue is nothing serious, too.
Good news about Micky, though, as we really need him and Romero to keep performing the way they are.
