Spurs learn who they will face in Champions League group stage

Tottenham Hotspur have learned who they will face in the group stage of the 2022/23 Champions League after the draw was made in Istanbul a short time ago.

After a two-year absence from European football’s most prestigious club competition, the north Londoners found themselves in pot two of the draw and will face Eintracht Frankfurt, Sporting and Marseille in Group D.

The group stage will be played over nine midweeks this season to fit in the World Cup which beings in late November. As a result, the group stage starts on 6 September and runs until 2 November – a period of nine weeks rather than the usual twelve.

There will only be three weeks without Champions League games between the groups starting and ending. Two of those land during the September international break and the other in mid-October has a full round of midweek Premier League games.

The takes place at Istanbul’s Ataturk Olympic Stadium on 10 June 2023.
