Spurs legend congratulates Kane on equalling his goal tally

Tottenham overcame Tranmere Rovers 7-0 at Prenton Park to book a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup last night.

Spurs missed a couple of chances early in the game after which the hosts had a decent 15-minute spell in the game. However, a brilliant 25-yard effort from Aurier towards the end of the first half ensured Spurs went into the break 1-0 up.

Tottenham, however, went through the gears in the second half and put the League Two side to the sword, putting six more past Scott Davies in the Tranmere goal.

Llorente bagged himself a hat-trick, while Son also got on the scoresheet before Kane came on at the end of the game and produced a neat finish.

The 7th goal of the game scored by Kane was actually a landmark goal for the England captain as it was his 159th strike for the club, which meant that he has now equalled Cliff Jones’ tally.

Kane is now tied with Jones as the fourth highest goalscorer in the club’s history, only behind Martin Chivers, Bobby Smith, and Jimmy Greaves. The Welsh wing wizard took to Twitter to congratulate Kane on equalling his record

If the 25-year-old keeps continuing at the same strike rate, Jimmy Greaves’ record is under serious threat.
