Spurs legend reveals two signings club need to make after Vitesse display

Graham Roberts has taken to social media to blast Tottenham’s defending in their Europa Conference League encounter against Vitesse Arnhem.

While Tottenham’s 3-2 win over the Eredivisie side proved to be an entertaining game for the neutrals, Antonio Conte and his coaching staff would have had their hearts in their mouths for large parts of the encounter.

After going 3-0 up within 30 minutes, the home side gave away a goal from a set-piece before turning over possession in a dangerous area of the pitch which the Eredivisie side capitalised on to make in 2-0.

To make matters worse, Cristian Romero picked up a second yellow card just 15 minutes into the second half, leaving Tottenham with plenty of work to do to come away with three points.

Thankfully, the home side managed to hold on to the win, with Conte describing the game as ‘crazy’ in his post-match interview.

Roberts was less than pleased with the defending he saw from Spurs and insisted that the club needed to bring in two central defenders in January.

Given the way high-risk manner in which Romero plays, he is always going to walk a tight-rope and occasionally run the risk of getting sent off. I was not surprised to see the Argentine line up on the right side of the back three rather than the middle as Conte tends to prefer a conservative centre-back as his central sweeper.
