Spurs legend urges club to sign four-time Champions League winner

Tottenham Hotspur legend Cliff Jones has urged Gareth Bale to return to North London.

Jones was a member of Bill Nicholson’s legendary side which won the League and FA Cup double in 1961.

The Swansea-born 85-year-old believes that his former side should look to secure a loan deal for his compatriot in what he claims would be in the best interest of all parties.

Bale left Tottenham in 2013 to join Real Madrid in a big-money move which saw Daniel Levy secure a £85.3million transfer fee which at the time was a world record (BBC).

Since leaving Spurs, Bale has gone on to win the Champions League on four occasions, two La Liga titles and one Copa del Rey, as well as three Club World Cups, three Uefa Super Cups and a Spanish Super Cup (transfermarkt).

Despite his success at the Spanish giants he has found himself out of favour under Zinedine Zidane having played just 100 minutes of action in Real’s final 11 games (transfermarkt).
