Despite managing to hang on to the player in the summer, Tottenham look set to lose Toby Alderweireld com next year.

The Belgian currently has under a year left on his contract, with an option to extend this by another season.

However, this extension would trigger a clause in the deal that allows him to be sold for £25m in one week in the summer transfer window, far under what he is really worth.

Alderweireld has not yet signed a new deal, and there are no signs of such an action.

It seems as if Spurs are planning for the future, as they have lined up a replacement for the exact fee they will receive for Toby, £25m.

Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen is very highly-rated in Serie A, and the 22-year-old is high up on Tottenham’s wish list according to The Sun.

The young centre-back has only 18 months left on his contract and will not be signing a new one.
