Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Gleison Bremer has admitted that he prefers to play in a central defensive three.
Tottenham fans have become accustomed to Antonio Conte’s tactical methods of employing a trio at the heart of his defence which is typically occupied by Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies.
The Telegraph claimed last month that Tottenham had added the Torino defender to their list of central defensive targets ahead of the summer transfer window.
Bremer has also attracted interest from Liverpool and also within Serie A with Inter Milan and Juventus both keen on the Brazilian, who is yet to be capped at international level (Goal).
In an interview with DAZN Italy’s MySkills show, Bremer admitted his preference for being in a three-man defence.
He said: “I prefer a three-man defence, because it’s in line with the system with which I’ve consecrated myself. I’ve learned how to use my head on the pitch. It’s not a natural quality, you must learn it.
“You need to understand when it’s the right time to press and when you need track back.
“You don’t only play with strength or interceptions. It’s more complex. You also need to know your opponents well. If the striker is slow, you must remain close to him and try to get on the ball before him.”

Hearing that Bremer prefers to operate in a central defensive trio could be a boost to Spurs’ hopes of landing the player should they hold a serious interest in him.
It appears that Spurs are certainly in the market for another centre half this summer, with the left side needing improvement at the expense of Ben Davies.
RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni, Lille’s Sven Botman and Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck have all been named as candidates (The Athletic).
