Spurs-linked Inter Milan ace insists he wants to remain at Serie A club

Lautaro Martinez has admitted his desire to remain at Inter Milan this summer, despite speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.

The Argentine forward has been linked with moves to both Tottenham Hotspur and London rivals Chelsea, however, the player is keen to continue his career at the San Siro.

Alasdair Gold claimed last month that it would be extremely difficult for Tottenham to land the striker this summer, given the fact he signed a new contract with the former Serie A champions in October until 2026 (Football.London).

Spurs were heavily linked with the 24-year-old last summer in which they were said to have had an offer of more than €60m (£51.4m) agreed before Chelsea took Romelu Lukaku off the Italian’s hands which meant they no longer required the funds to part with Martinez (Football.London).

“I’ve not received communications from the club, (but) as of today I want to continue at Inter next season,” he told the Daily Mail.

“My plan is clear. I really want to stay at Inter next season.”

Trying to recruit a top-class forward will always be a problem for Tottenham given the fact that many are reluctant to join given Harry Kane’s presence in the squad, which could see their game time limited.

Spurs need to prioritise other areas of the pitch including a left-sided central defender, a right-wing back and a creative midfielder before addressing any move for a forward.
