Spurs-linked midfielder says he is in positive talks with club about his future

Rumoured Tottenham target, Stanislav Lobotka, has said that he is happy at Napoli and his talks with the Serie A club regarding his future have been positive.

Lobotka has been a revelation under Luciano Spalletti in Naples, with the Slovak’s battling displays in the middle of the park being one of the key reasons why the club look to be on the verge of securing the Scudetto this season.

CalcioMercatoWeb.it reported two weeks ago that Spalletti is one of the names on Tottenham’s shortlist to replace Antonio Conte in the summer, with the North London club’s hierarchy said to be admirers of the experienced Italian coach.

It was suggested that in order to lure the 64-year-old to N17, Spurs were prepared to snap up Lobotka and were willing to make an offer of around €60m (£52.5m) for the midfielder’s services.

However, the former Celta Vigo man has now played down talk of a departure from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium this summer.

When asked about his future, Lobotka told Corriere dello Sport: “Let’s say we’re at a good point.

“We’re chatting. It’s clear that I want to stay here and without a doubt.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am sceptical about the idea of appointing Spalletti as I put Napoli’s success this season down primarily to the outstanding squad they have managed to assemble.

While Lobotka is a fantastic player, I am not sure it would make sense to spend a significant portion of our budget to strengthen the central midfield department.
