Lecce midfielder Morten Hjulmand, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window has said that he is not thinking about the speculation over his future.
Hjulmand was a relatively unknown quantity when he arrived at Lecce back in 2021 but the midfielder has gone from strength to strength since then, playing a crucial role in helping the club win promotion to the top flight and continuing to be one of their most consistent performers in Serie A so far in 2022-23.
The defensive midfielder’s solid displays at Stadio Via Del Mare has reported caught Tottenham’s attention, with CalcioMercato claiming last month that the North London club have sent scouts to Italy to run the rule over the player.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported two weeks ago that Spurs could face competition from Juventus and AS Roma for Hjulmand while CM.it claimed around the same time that Inter Milan were also considering making a €15m (£13.2m) for the 23-year-old.
However, the Dane has now played down the speculation over his future, insisting that he is fully focused on his task at hand at Lecce.
When asked about the various clubs interested in his services, Hjulmand told TuttoMercatoWeb: “I don’t think about it, I’m only thinking about Lecce: I prefer to talk about myself and the team.
“I don’t read the newspapers much (laughs), I repeat, I’m focused only on Lecce”.

It is certainly not surprising that Paratici is keeping a close eye on Hjulmand, who has arguably emerged as one of the best young midfielders in the Serie A this season.
Spurs are pretty well stocked in the central midfielder department and are certainly not desperate for reinforcements in the position.
