Spurs-linked Serie A striker insists he is ‘happy’ to stay at current club

Edin Dzeko, who was linked as a surprise target for Tottenham Hotspur over recent days, has insisted that he is happy at Inter Milan.

Despite being 36 years of age, Dzeko is continuing to go strong and is showing no signs of slowing down just yet. The former Manchester City star has found the back of the net nine times and provided four assists for Inter so far this season in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

CalcioMercatoWeb reported a couple of days ago that the Bosnian international was on Tottenham’s radar with it suggesting that Spurs head coach that Antonio Conte ‘really likes’ the centre-forward and views him as an ideal back-up to Harry Kane.

The report claimed that Inter had not yet opened talks to renew the former Roma forward’s current contract, which is set to expire at the end of the current season and Inter that the Nerazzurri could decide to say ‘goodbye’ to the striker, who has already received ‘messages and phone calls’ from Premier League clubs.

However, Dzeko has now made it clear that he is happy at the San Siro and would like to remain at the club.

The Inter star told Calciomercato: “Here I am happy. I really want to continue playing at Inter. We will see what happens”.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think there is much truth in this speculation as Dzeko is not mobile enough or fit enough to play in a Conte system. Besides, I am not sure if the Bosnian would want to play in the Premier League at this stage of his career. I expect him to see out the remainder of his career in Italy.
