Spurs-linked teenage international leaves door open to a possible transfer

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Eduardo Camavinga has hinted that he could be open to leaving Rennes to take on a bigger challenge.

The 18-year-old’s performances for Rennes propeled him into the limelight, with the defensive midfielder also being handed his senior debut for the French national side last month.

Goal’s NxGn 2020 list, which features the best young players in world football, had Camavinga at number five, which suggests how highly rated the young midfielder is.

It was reported in March that Camavinga was on the radar of both Liverpool and Spurs (Sport), while Real Madrid are also said to be showing interest in the Frenchman (Marca).

Football.London claimed last month that the young midfielder was one of the names on Tottenham’s shopping list for next summer.

When asked about being linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, Camavinga said (via AS): “The great clubs make me dream, but I cannot name one in particular for my future.”

The midfielder’s current contract ends in 2022 and he admitted he is in no rush to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Ligue 1 club.

Camavinga added: “We’ll see. We haven’t set a date to discuss my future, I’m in no rush about it. There will be negotiations to keep me here.

“It would be a pleasure for me to continue at Rennes. I still have two years left on my contract and we have enough time to talk about it.”
