Spurs-linked winger suffers major injury which could scupper transfer hopes

It looks like Tottenham’s rumoured pursuit of Roony Bardghji might be over after it was confirmed that the winger has suffered an ACL injury that is expected to keep him out of action for almost the entirety of 2024.

Bardghji has been turning quite a few heads with his performances for Copenhagen this season, with the winger having found the back of the net 11 times for the Danish side in 2023-24 (Transfermarkt).

Over the last couple of months, various sources have suggested that the Lilywhites are keeping an eye on the teenager’s development (Fabrizio Romano – YouTube).

In fact, the winger himself talked up the possibility of a move to Spurs, admitting in an interview with Aftonbladet back in February that he is quite excited about the idea of linking up with his compatriots Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall at N17.

Roony Bardghji tears his ACL amid Spurs links

However, it looks like Tottenham will have to shelve any plans of making a move for Bardghji this summer, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that the teenager has now sustained an injury.

The journalist revealed that the Swedish attacker has torn his ACL and is thus expected to be sidelined for six months.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Bardghji is a promising talent, I doubt Tottenham were prioritising a move for him this summer. The likes of Nico Williams, Raphinha, Ebereche Eze and Samuel Illing-Junior appear to rank higher up on Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist.
