Spurs-linked youngster thinks his club will sell him if a decent offer arrives

Argentina youngster Carlos Alcaraz predicts that his current club, Racing Club, would sell him if a club came in with a suitable offer, amidst links with Tottenham.

The 19-year-old has impressed this season in South America, scoring nine goals in 42 appearances for Racing Club (Transfermarkt). The fact a player so young has even played that many games is a commendable feat alone, never mind the quality of his performances.

The midfielder came through the youth system at Racing Club before joining their first team in 2020 and has caught the eye, displaying quality beyond his years.

Marca reported back in May 2022 that Tottenham Hotspur were taking a look at Alcaraz and had sent scouts to watch him, with rumours suggesting they had even inquired about a possible transfer.

According to Marca, Racing Club would be looking for a fee of least $20 million, around £16.4 million, to make a deal happen.

Now, a fresh report from Doble Amarilla quotes Alcaraz himself as saying a move would be viable should a club come in for him with a decent price.

Alcaraz said: “I already fulfilled the dream of being champion with Racing, now my dream is to win the Copa Libertadores with this club. Now I want to win something international.

“If Racing come in January and bring me an offer that suits them, they will sell me. If they tell me to stay and play in the Libertadores, I’ll stay. I’m very well here and I’m committed to Racing and to what is good for the club.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I’ll admit I hadn’t heard of this youngster before, but he looks and sounds like a quality prospect from what I’ve discovered upon some light research. We know Antonio Conte prefers more established, experienced players, but the Spurs development squad desperately needs reinforcements, so Alcaraz could be an option in that department.
