Spurs man admits he is ‘proud’ of rumoured transfer target after WC display

Ivan Perisic has taken to his Instagram story (04/12/22) to tell rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Denzel Dumfries that he is ‘proud’ after he helped Holland to reach the quarter-final of the World Cup.

Dumfries was named in Louis van Gaal’s starting eleven for their round of sixteen clash against the USA on Saturday and Dumfries caught the eye during the 3-1 victory and will now face South American giants Argentina for a place in the last four in the tournament in Qatar.

90min reported last week that Tottenham have already made contact with Inter Milan as they look to improve their quality at right wing-back, with the Serie A outfit likely to want to offload the 26-year-old in order to raise some much-needed funds.

Perisic played on the opposite flank to Dumfries during his time at Inter and congratulated his former team-mate on the achievement.

The Tottenham player will also be looking to book his place in the next round when Croatia take on Japan later today.

With Emerson Royal not up to the required standard at right wing-back, Dumfries would be a shrewd addition to vastly improve the quality down the right, especially in attacking areas.

Despite an impressive end to last season, Matt Doherty continues to be overlooked and Djed Spence looks set for a loan exit in January.
