Spurs man hits out at Arsenal players after NLD celebrations

Tottenham Hotspur’s winning run unfortunately came to a bitter end at the weekend, as North London rivals Arsenal defeated them 2-1.

Spurs were actually 2-1 up at half time, but their weary legs seem to give way to a rampant Arsenal side in the second half.

Tottenham had already played big fixtures against Chelsea and Inter Milan that week, and the fatigue showed in a big way.

The derby tensions seemed to boil over a little in the first half as Eric Dier equalised and appeared to ‘shhh’ the Gunners fans.

The resulting melee involved players from both sides, including the bench and Pochettino himself, but it all seemed to be in the spirits of a passionate derby.

However, what was frustrating for some people associated with Spurs was the less than classy social media celebrations from Arsenal players.

The squad uploaded videos, pictures, and ‘North London is red’ posts as if they had just won the league.

Danny Rose was left frustrated by this and cannot wait for the return leg (Guardian): “Me seeing the Arsenal players do that after the game was obviously frustrating and I’m already looking forward to the reverse fixture when we get them at Wembley or the new stadium.

“We’ve also got the quarter-final and we’ll be looking to put the result right from the weekend. That’ll be the first chance to win a trophy if we get through that.

“I know there were a lot of opinions about Eric’s celebration but that’s what derbies are all about. When we’ve played at the Emirates before, the atmosphere has not been like that. It’s special. As long as we conduct ourselves in a professional manner, I don’t see anything wrong with what happened.

“It’s obviously frustrating when you lose and you see selfies and pictures from the changing room being uploaded but there’s our incentive. It shows how far we’ve come in recent years that it looked like it meant a lot to them to get a win over us.”
