Spurs man up against the likes of De Bruyne for Player of the Month award

Tottenham have announced that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

Hojbjerg did struggle for consistency at times last season but he had a strong finish to the campaign, forming a formidable partnership with Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle of the park since the Uruguayan’s arrival from Juventus in January.

The pair have continued from where they left off so far this season, having started all but one game together in the Premier League as Spurs have picked up 17 points from a possible 21 on offer.

Hojbjerg has also made more of an impact in the final third this season, having already notched up four goal contributions across all competitions in the nine matches so far (Transfermarkt).

On the back of the impressive month he has had, the Dane has been shortlisted for the Player of the Month Award, which was won by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in August.

This is fully deserved for Hojbjerg, who has proved many of his doubters wrong this season. His one poor performance came in the Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon last week but he has hardly put a foot wrong in the Premier League so far this campaign.
