Spurs may miss out on defensive target as club prepares new contract offer

If you are looking for young up-and-coming English prospects in the right-back position, you needn’t look much further than Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Max Aarons.

Tottenham Hotspur, who have suffered issues at right-back this season, have been linked with both Wan-Bissaka (Sun) and Aarons (Sun) in recent weeks, however, they may not be so easy to secure.

It has already been reported that Wan-Bissaka intends to be at Crystal Palace next season (Standard), but Norwich are now said to be offering Max Aarons a new contract to keep him from Spurs’ clutches (Telegraph).

The Canaries have already secured promotion to the Premier League next season, and Tottenham may find it tricky already to lure Aarons away from the prospect of fulfilling the club’s journey next campaign.

Spurs are said to be willing to offer £15m for the full-back, but a new Norwich contract will represent guaranteed first team football for the 19-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Spurs simply must bring in right back reinforcements for next season, with Trippier, Aurier, and Walker-Peters failing to impress as first choice. I would prefer Wan-Bissaka for the Premier League experience, but Max Aarons also looks to be a fantastic prospect. I would be disappointed if Spurs started the new season with neither of these players in their roster.
