Spurs midfielder completes deadline day transfer

Tottenham midfielder Anthony Georgiou has joined Bolton Wanderers on loan for the remainder of the season, the club has confirmed.

Georgiou spent the first half of this season on loan at Ipswich Town but failed to impress at Portman Road Stadium. In fact, he featured just 13 times for the League One side this campaign (transfermarkt).

The youngster has made only one substitute appearance for the Tottenham first team but he has been involved in several pre-season friendlies for the Lilywhites.

The 22-year-old previously had a relatively unsuccessful loan spell at La Liga side Levante as well. The Cyprus international will be hoping that his spell at Bolton will be more fruitful than his previous loans.

Bolton need a miracle if they are going to survive the drop this season as they are rooted to the bottom of League One, but they will be hoping that Georgiou’s addition will help them mount a respectable finish to the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Georgiou never really looked like he had the ability to make it at the top level. I believe League One is the right level for the youngster and hopefully, he can get a move in the summer if he impresses at Bolton. He is likely to get more games at Bolton than he did at Ipswich and it is important that he makes this loan spell count.
