Spurs midfielder insists players ‘couldn’t have worked harder’ against Liverpool

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has insisted that the Spurs stars left everything on the field in their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Saturday.

The Reds dominated proceedings in the first half and deservedly took the lead through Roberto Firmino in the 37th minute of the game. While Spurs did threaten a couple of times on the break, they failed to create any clear cut opportunities before the interval.

However, the Lilywhites gave the away side as good as they got in the second half and fashioned some fantastic chances to equalize.

Son Heung-min and Giovani Lo Celso both missed chances from close range in the final fifteen minutes of the game, thus handing the visitors all three points.

Alli took to social media after the match to thank the fans for their fantastic support during the game and revealed the frustration that the players felt at failing to come away with a result.

Spurs Web Opinion

There can hardly be any criticism levelled at the players’ attitude and work rate on Saturday. Liverpool are a class apart at the moment and given the number of injuries we had, it was always going to be difficult to stop them. As it happened, our game plan almost worked perfectly against them.
