Report: Spurs midfielder leaves on season-long loan

Tottenham Hotspur have announced the departure of young midfielder Luke Amos who will join QPR on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old will join Mark Warburton’s side in an attempt to gain more first-team football with the prospect looking unlikely to break through this season at Spurs.

Amos made his Premier League debut for Spurs in last season’s opener, a 2-1 victory away to Newcastle United – coming on as a late substitution.

He also made three appearances for the U23 side in Premier League 2 but suffered a season-ending injury in a 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers in September.

The youngster could form a promising partnership with Manchester City midfielder Matt Smith who is also set to join QPR on a season-long loan.

Having featured a lot over the 2018 pre-season tour of America, it looked like Amos would begin to integrate into the first-team but the injury he suffered in September certainly ended that prospect.

Spurs Web Opinion:

A good move for Amos? Maybe, if we are being honest the chances of him making it in the starting XI is looking less likely with the possible incoming of Tanguy Ndombele so a move away for more frequent football is a good move.

But it does beg the question where his long-term future lies…
