Spurs monitoring Manchester United star

According to a report by the Sun, Tottenham and Arsenal are both monitoring the situation of Manchester United’s Phil Jones.

The United and England centre back is out of contract in the summer but has a 12 month extension option which the Manchester club will likely trigger.

However, this doesn’t mean they won’t be open to getting some money for him while they still can.

The 26-year-old joined United back in 2011 from Blackburn Rovers for a reported fee of £15m, and now has vast experience in the Premier League.

However, after Mourinho’s massive push to bring in new centre backs last summer, and United’s wavering form, it would be no stretch of the imagination to see the likes of Jones move on.

Jones has struggled with injuries in recent seasons though, and has also made a few high profile mistakes of late, so a purchase would be a gamble.

Spurs may only make a move on their interest if the price is low enough.
