Spurs on the brink of another major announcement regarding stadium

TalkSPORT presenter Jim White understands Tottenham are ‘within touching distance’ of announcing a new opening date for the new stadium.

Jim White said on live radio:

“Apart from one aspect of the project, everything is complete.”

“So Tottenham made provisions with extra games at Wembley and this morning I am told that although they are within touching distance of announcing it, the club still cannot say, hand on heart, when the first game inside the new stadium will actually be,” he added.

“Tottenham will get another update today and they are waiting to hear at any time that a green light can be given for the opening of the new stadium.

“Although they have to remain cautious and although they have to get it right until they get it right they cannot put a timescale on it. And I totally understand that.”

It is well known now Spurs were due to open their new stadium with a Premier League clash against Liverpool on 15 Septemeber.

However, following health and safety concerns the Club set back the opening date and chose to play their league games against Liverpool and Cardiff City at Wembley Stadium.

But this has left Spurs with no set stadium for their following home league game against Manchester City.

It is believed both sides will agree to a slight date change to Monday 29 October which will be held at Wembley.
