Spurs pair linked with summer exits set to join squad for Far East tour

Tottenham Hotspur have now begun their pre-season preparations with the members of the first team squad being put through their paces at Hotspur Way over the past week.

The squad will now leave for their Far East tour on Wednesday where they will take on Juventus in Singapore on Sunday followed by a game against Manchester United in Shanghai on July 25.

The Evening Standard now report that Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen, who have both been linked with moves away from the club this summer, are set to join the rest of the squad on the tour.

Eriksen has already announced his intention to seek a new challenge (Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet) and is being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid (Marca).

Alderweireld meanwhile has a £25 million release clause in his contract which can be activated until the final two weeks of the transfer window (The Guardian) and is said to be interesting AS Roma (Gazzetta dello Sport).

So it looks like unless there are any sudden developments in either player’s case, the pair will feature for Tottenham in their initial pre-season games.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the recent links with centre backs and attacking midfielders, it does look like the club is planning on losing both players this summer. We at Spurs Web believe it would be ideal if Tottenham can hold on to Alderweireld for one more season and concentrate instead on improving other areas of the squad this summer.
