Spurs plan £80m January spending spree

Reports claim that Tottenham are looking to splurge the cash this January, in response to their relatively weak centre against Watford on Sunday.

Spurs famously became the first Premier League club in history not to sign a single player in the summer transfer window this year, but Levy could be about to make amends with a January spending spree.

Tottenham are said to be looking at long-term target Amadou Diawara, after they apparently failed with a bid to sign the Napoli ace in the summer.

The £40m rated midfielder wasn’t first choice under Maurizio Sarri, now of Chelsea, but Carlo Ancelotti blocked any move to Tottenham.

The Lilywhites are also said to still be after Ajax’s Frenkie De Jong, after the Holland U21 international was linked to Barcelona in the summer.

The midfielder is also rated at around £40m , and Spurs will be hoping that their good relationship with Ajax will help force through a move.

The likes of Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez were all signed from the Dutch giants.
