Spurs player ‘is likely to miss’ Man United game with fresh injury – Journalist reports

According to journalist Tom Barclay, Spurs fans can expect Giovani Lo Celso to miss the game against Manchester United at the weekend, as the midfielder is suffering from a slight strain on his hamstring this week.

Tottenham Hotspur have not had much luck with injuries this season, and Ange Postecoglou has rarely enjoyed the luxury of selecting his strongest XI for the past two months now.

The likes of Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Cristian Romero, and Pape Sarr have all missed games through injuries this term, and every time a player returns to fitness, it seems another takes his place on the injury table.

Giovani Lo Celso is one player who has benefited from the fitness issues facing the squad, however, with the Argentine managing to make his mark under Postecoglou. The 27-year-old has registered two goals and two assists in 12 appearances this season (Transfermarkt).

Is Giovani Lo Celso injured?

With Maddison still missing, Spurs could have used the creative flair of a player like Lo Celso for the visit to Old Trafford this weekend, but it seems they will have to make do without him.

That is according to The Sun reporter, Tom Barclay, who suggests the playmaker will be absent from the upcoming Premier League clash with a hamstring issue.

Barclay tweeted: “Understand Gio Lo Celso has a little issue with his hamstring, as per Paul O’Keefe, so is likely to miss Man Utd as a precaution. But the hope is it’s just one game out. With so many midfielders currently unavailable, it makes sense to be cautious.”

We just cannot catch a break, can we? Luckily, this sounds like a precaution more than an actual long-term issue, but we could have really used Lo Celso’s creativity on Sunday. It will now be down to Dejan Kulusevski to provide that spark in the middle of the park.
